About Us
In 2000, our family purchased both Wilmington House and Roscommon Place. The previous owners had
lost interest and the properties had become run-down. We knew we were in for a good deal of work but
both of our families had had rental property while we were growing up and we were familiar with the
challenges we would face.
Over the past 8 years, we have renovated both inside and out and I am happy to say that there are no
longer any avocado appliances to be found! All of the units were repainted and have had new carpeting
and we have added vinyl flooring in every kitchen, bathroom, and entryway.
The tired landscaping has been transformed. We began by pulling out the old evergreen shrubs and
planting perennials designed to bloom from spring to fall. Next, we have added several grills and picnic
tables scattered around, so that the tenants can enjoy the greenspace. Last spring, the parking lot was
re-sealed.
To keep everything running smoothly, we hired a resident Property Maintenance Manager. Normally, you will
only find resident maintenance in larger properties, but we felt it was important to have someone here.
Since he lives here, he is able to take care of issues as they happen and not some time down the road.
He also has a vested interest in keeping his neighbors happy!
We also spent a lot of time listening to the tenants. The laundry room was being renovated and at their
suggestion, we made 3 of the washing machines large-capacity to accommodate bedspreads and curtains. We
also did away with set hours at the laundry. Giving each tenant a key allowed them to do their laundry
on their own schedule. We have added exterior lighting and fenced in the rear of the complex for added
security, and are looking into adding a trash recycling program.
We’ve worked hard, but we’ve also been blessed with some terrific tenants. They look out for us, and for
each other. Together, we’ve made this community a very nice place to live, and one we are proud to own.
If you are in the market for a new home, for a year or for a lifetime, consider a visit to Wilmington House
or Roscommon Place. I’m sure you’ll see what we mean!
